Getting Started

Created by professional subject-matter experts and adhering to best practices for adult learning, ACUHO-I online courses are efficient ways to complement your real-world experiences, broaden your knowledge, and do so in a way that fits your schedule. Ready to get started? Check out the FAQs below to clear up any questions.

How long will it take for me to complete my online course?

Every learner is different and will work at a different pace. Some courses require more outside assignments than others (completing a journal, conducting interviews) but in general, you should allow at least 10 hours for a short course and 20 hours for the Certificate in Occupancy Management or Architecture Series course.

Will I have an instructor?

A housing professional(s) authored the courses. Some content has been updated with newer articles or recent changes to practice. There is no instructor monitoring the course or grading assignments. Learners are self-directed and work on their own. There are discussions with other learners that can be accessed anytime during the length of the course. There are also quizzes and exams to assess knowledge of the content.

How do I get the most out of the course?

Being thoughtful about the content and how it applies to your work is helpful. These courses can also be aspirational, meaning that they can expose you to content that will help you advance professionally.

What technology do I need to complete my course?

The learning platform is mobile-friendly, but you may find it easier to complete modules and assignments on a desktop. There are videos and links embedded in the course slides and handouts available in a separate tab. You may need to disable your pop-up blocker to ensure that modules and assignments will advance as you complete them.

How long will I have to complete my course?

You will have one (1) year to complete the course from the time of registration. Email learn@acuho-i.org if you need an extension.

What if I change jobs? Will I still have access to my course?

You access the learning platform using the same credentials as your ACUHO-I portal.  If you change jobs or want to edit your information, please visit www.acuho-i.org  and log in to your portal to make changes.

What if I forget my username or password?

Visit www.acuho-i.org and select Member login. There will be a prompt if you have forgotten your username or password.

What if I can't see my course in my Dashboard?

Learners are added to a course after purchase. It may take up to two (2) business days before you receive instructions and have the course(s) visible in your dashboard.

How do I get a certification of completion?

Once you complete your course, a certificate of completion will pop up on your screen. If you need to access the certificate at a later time, you can navigate to your dashboard, select Transcript/Achievements and click on View/Print Certificate.

This has been really helpful, but what if I still have questions?

If you have questions or need technical assistance, please email learn@acuho-i.org.
